HSBC Champions - Sheshan International Golf Club, Shanghai, China

The qualfying format is designed to reward the world's best golfers with an invitation to the 72-hole stroke play event, which, after its first three years, has become eagerly-anticipated by players and fans alike. The past three winners of the tournament, David Howell, Yang Ye and last year's winner Phil Mickelson are also guaranteed a spot in the battle for the $5 million prize purse. Also invited are players who have, during the calendar year preceding the event, captured at least one tournament title on a sanctioning tour, or have finished the preceding season amongst the top twenty in the European Tour's Order of Merit standings or amongst the top five in the Order of Merit standings of any of the other three sanctioning tours.
